Summary

At Nanoga we have developed a solution, Nanodink, that will enable the cost-effective transformation of TVs into whiteboards and the TV retains its original functionality allowing normal video viewing. It fully eliminates the need for extensive circuitry, sensors and control electronics, Nanodink significantly lowers the production cost of interactive displays and technology can be embedded on any display glass, therefore enables the cost-effective development of large screens above 60 inches in size designed with very narrow bezels.

Work performed

During the reporting period, we determined the optimum formulation of our digital ink materials, the index encoding pattern - these are to be used for enabling display glass to handle digital script input. We identified key partners for the technical development of Nanodink and setting up of the pilot and eventually the mass production line. Thus, we have determined the scale-up optimisation criteria for Nanodink, particularly the process parameters which has led to the final process outcomes. We also determined the best business models, ideal route-to-market model as well as analysed the financial viability of Nanodink during commercialisation.

Final results

Nanodink will be delivering a scalable, cost-effective solution with minimum power and processing impact, enabling direct interaction between a user and the video display. Nanodink offers the following impacts:
- Provide an interactive experience for children in school for better comprehension of new information
- Reduced product costs by a factor of 3 thereby accommodate budgetary limitations inherent in the education sector
- It is a passive system hence reduces operational costs
- Bans the use of Indium and promotes a sustainable product lifespan as Nanodink processed glass can be recovered and reused to generate new glass materials.
- Facilitates the transition of interactive digital whiteboards to interactive flat panels
