Summary

Challenge: Rehabilitating patients with cognitive and upper limb problems from Stroke. Cognitive impairments as in the Neglect Syndrome is not discovered nor treated in suitable time and the normal hospital stay is too short to rehabilitate the patients properly. If the Neglect Syndrome is discovered and treated faster and better than today, the wellbeing of patients will increase. The burden and the costs for their care will be significantly reduced. Around 30% of the 16 Million new stroke patients worldwide per year suffer from the Neglect Syndrome i.e. there are 5-6 million new patients per year.

The long-term goal of this project is to create a successful market introduction and growth path for Brain Stimulation’s innovation.

The conclusion of the phase 1 project is that we have technical, economic and practical feasibility to continue our innovation process.

Work performed

We have prepared our Concept for Stroke Home Rehabilitation, test and proof of concept evaluation. RehAtt®-VR has been transferred to the new technical platform HoloLens from Microsoft. A pilot-study have been performed with five volunteers as part of a first Proof of Concept evaluation. The validated VR-DiSTRO® (test-battery) has been used in comparison to the use of conventional Neglect Syndrome tests. Normative diagnostics data have been collected. Potential health economical gains have been identified. A competitor analysis has been done. We have mapped and prioritized potential users, segments and markets. We have elaborated a qualified IPR portfolio strategy including branding of the innovation, freedom to operate and regulatory strategy for Home Rehabilitation. We have made a strategic evaluation of subcontractors and knowledge partners We have made a financial strategy. We have update our business innovation plan.

Final results
