Review of the applicable regulatory and policy conditions in the MIREU regions Based on the information the insights from the Min-Lex study, the MINATURA2020 results, the Minland project (starting Dec 1, 2017) and specific inputs from the MIREU regions, a comprehensive map of the prevailing regulatory and policy regime will be developed, covering the whole mine life-cycle and metallurgical value chain. The topics to be covered will include the regulatory and permitting processes at various administrative levels pertaining to mining/metallurgy, how they are implemented and by whom; applicable laws, by-laws, and regulations; land-use and zoning regulations; mineral raw materials, economic and other regional development policies; environmental policies, etc. The emerging picture will be critically reviewed with respect to factors that are likely to contribute positively or negatively to the prospect of developing a mining and metallurgical industry in the respective MIREU regions. SWOT analysis of regions and valorisation of mining heritage SWOT analysis on regions of mining heritage and their practises and experiences made to generate economic income. It analyses the operational processes of mine re-opening and mine closure, valorisation of landfill wastes, and innovative rehabilitation practises. The SWOT analysis includes an investigation and analysis of the research and academia potential of the regions and its interaction with past and present region-related R&I projects as well as cooperation and support actions. Assessment of skills requirements and availability in the MIREU regions A concise overview over the current and likely future specific skills requirements in a modern mining industry. This review will also investigate how and where these skills are being acquired, namely through vocational, academic or on the job training. In addition, the review will cover the basic education required in order to be able to enter into the specific training. The MIREU regions will be scrutinised with respect to their existing skill base and the educational and training facilities available. MIREU Project identity including a logo, and templates to ensure a common identity throughout the MIREU communication activities, a concise visual identity will be developed, including a project logo, presentation and document templates and website design. All promotional items will use the visual instructions for using the logo, etc. The graphic elements should give the project a clear, positive and dynamic image and should be easy to adjust to various types of communication materials and tools. In addition, a presentation template will be created to show the project and its results with the aim of ensuring a coherent and harmonised â€œcorporate identityâ€. Results of the Knowledge Mapping survey A thorough list of knowledge already existing within the consortium and to be acquired from external sources will be elaborated. This list will determine the knowledge that will be delivered by leaders of other WPs to WP6. This way, a complete map of the knowledge to be generated and used during project execution will be produced. Preliminary version (prototype) of the MIREU Portal The MIREU Knowledge Portal will include data management tools to perform the following functions: Feeding and indexing: All the knowledge uploaded in the portal (produced and collected by other work packages) will be fully indexed and accompanied by its metadata (using widely recognized metadata standard such as Dublin Core). This knowledge will be delivered in supports of various types, either semi-structured (e.g. datasets) or non-structured (e.g. reports, abstracts, charts, graphs, etc.). Searching & retrieval: The MIREU Portal will be endowed with Search Capability, allowing to search at the same time in the data, in the documents and in their associated metadata. The search can be performed using full text, a specific location or using a simplified geographic interface allowing delimiting an area. The list of results will show a brief description of the documents retrieved and the geographic area covered in a small spatial viewer.
