Summary

GASEK is a Finnish energy technology company established in 2008. It develops and manufactures wood chip-fuelled gasifiers, which are based on a unique GASEK wood gasification technology. The feasibility study carried out in the framework of SME Insturment Phase 1 project was planned to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of applying the developed wood gasification technology for mid-range Combined Head and Power (CHP) plants.
The objectives of the project were to:
(i) define the best strategy for the technology commercialization
(ii) validate the technical data for product development
(iiI) update the freedom-to-operate study

Work performed

During the reporting period Gasek was able to finish the feasibility study and carry out the tasks related to the specific objectives of the project. As a result test data on the technical feasibility was obtained. A freedom-to-operate study was carried out proving that Gasek has the opportunity to freely commercialize the technology. In addition, the commercialization strategy helped to determine the primary markets for initial market introduction.

Final results

The final results obtained during the course of the given project will provide valuable input for the final product development of the mid-range CHP unit using Gasek’s unique gasification technology helping to bring the innovation to market as quickly as possible.
