International conferences for the professional community

The Graphene Week – series of international conferences on the fundamental science of graphene and its applications – aims for academic and industry community in the flagship and beyond. The Graphene Week was recognised world-wide for its scientific scope, comprised both fundamental science and recent results on industrial application, production techniques as well new 2D materials - all key areas where Europe has a leading role. During the ramp up phase the conference has doubled in size and now aims for 500 – 600 delegates a year. Organisers received very positive feedbacks from conference attendees (2014). Out of 450 attendees, 60% described the quality of chairs, speakers, and talks as excellent and more than 80% expressed interest in participating to the next editions of the Graphene Week. The goal is to have one conference a year. The Graphene Study – series of European winter schools on graphene and related 2D materials – aims for young research generation of the Consortium and beyond. Besides the fact being the strong tutorial tool the Graphene Study serves as a component of the Graphene Flagship, which aims to build tightly integrated community and create new direct communication channels between young and experienced researchers in the field. The goal of the school is to bring together students working on related areas of research with experienced scientists from academia and industry. The Graphene Flagship considers the Graphene Study as an important vehicle in fostering the next generation of graphene researchers and a key element in the continuous renewal of the Flagship during its decade long voyage. Each edition of the Graphene Study addresses a specific scope following the structure of flagship’s Work Packages and Divisions and aims for 50 – 70 students. Survey results after two school’s editions shows a high level of appreciation of the school among young researchers. The goal is to have one school a year. The Graphene Connect – series of industrial workshops - aims for industrial community. The Graphene Connect is an enabling instrument of the Graphene Flagship consortium to mainly engage discussions and envision new collaborations with European companies and academics working in applied research, innovation and development. Each edition of the Graphene Connect addresses a specific scope following the structure of flagship’s Divisions and aims for 50 – 70 participants. The structure of each workshops comprise a popular presentation of the state-of-the art research in the area, three – four track sessions with focus on Work Packages achievements, followed discussions and matchmaking part. The goal is to have two workshops a year.
