Electricity transmission, whose efficiency depends on the structural stability of its infrastructures, is a major EU’s challenge. With close to 300 000 km of power lines, the maintenance of transmission infrastructures is essential for the supply of electricity 24/7. 2 to 4 % of these infrastructures are moving, leading to blackouts who have a decisive impact for European citizens security. Currently, the monitoring is qualitative, expensive, done through staff\'s field inspections, scarce and not efficient because important damages are often discovered too late, mobilizing enormous resources in terms of time, manpower and money.
Prevention through real-time monitoring is a much better solution, we propose herein to implement a quantitative real-time monitoring system of stability (and other parameters) of infrastructures, as well as their surroundings, based on our small ReCETT sensor, that is adaptable, robust, reliable, accurate and transmits automatically the measured data to end-users.
This SME instrument phase 1, allowed us to do: 1. A general state-of-the-art of the used European monitoring and warning systems as well as sensors; 2. An in-depth market analysis based on specific tools (CANVAS model) to describe our business model to refine, optimize and innovate; 3. A realistic estimation of the penetration of our ReCETT sensor into the EU market not only in the electric transmission segment.
We had also the opportunity to test it in real conditions for the monitoring of a sensitive infrastructure during civil engineering work.
Our new ReCETT device allows: 1. To reveal unexpected infrastructure displacements, diagnosis and best choice of remediation of hazardous situations; 2. To priorize infrastructure maintenance, renovation and safety and reduce costs and expenses for both EU companies and citizens; 3. To contribute to the improvement, efficiency and the management optimization of European transmission infrastructures. Consequently, our ReCETT sensor will radically change the concept of Power Grid monitoring as 1) it is adapted to the real needs of the electric transmission system operators, and 2) with high potential and highly competitive toward the European and world markets. Finally, ReCETT is a progress and optimize maintenance costs as well as security and safety, savings costs for any European Citizens with direct benefits on energy saving and consequently positive effects on the European environment and the economy.
