Summary

WHYLOT is a French SME founded in 2011 by Dr. Romain RAVAUD, its current CEO. The company is located in the south-west part of France in Cambes a city of the department “Le Lot”. The company is specialized in the development of different products in the technical field of electromagnetism: miniature electric motors, magnetic coupling, flywheel energy storage, electromagnetic actuator. Within 4 years, WHYLOT R&D has patented 24 innovations regarding these products and remains on this IP aspect the most active company in its field of research. In February 2016, the innovative company has been winner of SME instrument phase 1 with the HERO project. The subsidy awarded by the European commission has given us the possibility to:
• Define the communication strategy;
• Perform a complete market study by segments;
• Define the industrialization and business strategy;
• Define an IP and regulatory strategy.
Those different actions have been leading us to entirely refine our business strategy and thus, our business plan.

Work performed

During our 6 months project we developed a strategic communication plan in order to promote WHYLOT and its high-tech electromechanical solution in order to launch WHYLOT\'s solution and reach the market.
Considering that there is a significant market interest in WHYLOT’s solution, defining a strategic communication and marketinf plan is a key point for the development of the company and extremely important to reach the market and start selling the new solution. However, the novelty of our technology forces us to gain trust from our potential customers and end-users by proving them its efficiency.
The SME phase 1 enabled WHYLOT to further work on the following tasks :

- Marketing and Communication strategy
- Market study by segments
- Sales and marketing strategy
- Industrial & business strategy
- IPR and regulatory strategy

Thanks to its communication plan, WHYLOT has been contacted by large industrial actors that were strongly interested by the HERO motor.
The discussions with them have led to important business agreements with WHYLOT, confirming the technology\'s relevance for the automotive industry.

The achievement of SME Instrument phase I gave us the possibility of establishing strong connexions with the industry key players and a market validation.
Thanks to these connexions the business strategy has been matured and enabled WHYLOT to set the technical orientation (From TRL 6 to TRL 9) to reach the market.

Final results

The work has been led in order to establish the business development of HERO® which represents a strong contribution to green mobility : make the electric car more efficient and competitive.

After the development of the HERO solution at prototype level, WHYLOT is now willing to reach TRL 9 and aims the passenger battery electric car market.
