Summary

Our mission is to ensure the safety of our children in the digital age. With our latest solution, SafeMobile, we aim to become market leaders in the parental control tools landscape. SafeMobile is a next-generation social monitoring service, designed to protect young people from the growing threat of cyberbullying which is wreaking havoc on the mental health and well-being of our youth throughout Europe and the world at large. The key objectives are to finalise the design and development activities and complete user experience testing and final market validation to confirm its functionalities and lay the foundations for a subsequent social campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the cyberbullying phenomena among parents, educational institutions and the broader public.

Work performed

Throughout the duration of the project, we analysed the user requirements for the SafeMobile solution, reviewed its development plan and supply chain, expanded our knowledge of the market, business strategy and regulations surrounding cyberbullying and parental control tools, and established a commercialisation strategy. We developed a detailed plan for a large-scale technical demonstration and validation of the platform functionalities, and conducted a thorough analysis of the potential business models applicable for SafeMobile. The Phase 1 feasibility assessment has clearly shown that the SafeMobile development plan is technically and commercially viable, and that the implementation of the commercialisation plan should be pursued. SME Instrument Phase 2 funding could provide the necessary amount of funding to complete the activities required to advance toward the market launch of the SafeMobile solution.

Final results

With the rise in the use of mobile technologies with permanent access to the internet, coupled with a sense of anonymity and lack of accountability, cyberbullying is a growing global phenomenon, affecting an increasing number of people. In Europe only, according to the Net Children Go Mobile 2014 study, 12% of children have experienced online bullying. Worryingly, even though it is less frequent than other online risks, cyberbullying is the most likely to result in harm or suicide.
SafeMobile will enable parents to combat cyberbullying more effectively than ever before while respecting the privacy of their children. Thanks to the unique community approach and special social features, SafeMobile will empower parents to monitor attacks in their surroundings and resolve them before they escalate. Eventually, by fostering comprehensive parental and community engagement in the fight against cyberbullying, our solution will ensure the safety and well-being of our youth in the internet age
