Summary

Challenge – Available Indoors Positioning Solutions do Not Work
Navigation is being used by consumers from many years ago. Initially integrated to specialized navigation units held by small number of users only. The major breakthrough started when GPS was integrated into mobile phones what made the use as wide as the use of Smartphone’s.
Navigation is used today by Consumers almost every time they drive their car, walk in search of an address, bike in the nature or hike.
We Also Need Positioning Indoors.
Europeans spend 90% of their time indoors . Whether we are at work in office buildings or small industrial sites, are at home, go to malls and entertainment centers or take transportation, we are indoors. When indoors, we would like to be able and navigate the same as we do outdoors but GPS does not work. There have been many attempts to providing indoor positioning but there is no real solution yet.
The Good News: We All Have Phones.
Recent years brought the mobile phone revolution with 67.3% Europeans having a smartphone . And, whereas only high-end phones used to have these features, virtually 100% of the mid-tier mainstream smartphones are equipped with a GNSS receiver.
Positioning Does Not Just Help Us Get from A to B.
Heaving location aware devices has boosted the navigation market applications. People today use their devices very intensively to get directions from one location to another and to receive location-based advertisements and coupons. When we disclose our location, we can receive specialized promotions, coupons and tips.
The Bad News: Available Indoors Positioning Solutions do Not Work.
Although there are many different applications and technologies that have been created to provide a solution, none of them really works or has been widely adopted. Plus, phone manufacturers prefer not to implement further positioning hardware.
Innovation-the only functioning Indoor Navigation solution.
GalNav InDoor: is the only functioning indoor navigation solution that can be used on most mobile devices and all smartphones based on the GPS receiver already present on the phones. Whilst the system does not require any hardware change to the device, it does require indoors infrastructure installation based on our patented micro simulator end unit and distributed GPS synchronization management center head unit.
The Core Innovation: GalNav InDoor is a unique, patented approach that combines our GNSS-based products into an indoor navigation system enabling native GNSS navigation with smooth hand-off from outside to inside to outside.
Key Benefits:
• Best user experience: GalNav InDoor is based on native navigation so no new app needs to be installed and no advance registration is needed;
• Works on existing devices: GalNav InDoor works with any device that have an integrated GNSS (100% of smartphones);
• Low up-front infrastructure installation cost: The buildings that provide in-door location only need to install our micro simulator end unit and a distributed GPS synchronization management center head unit.

Work performed

\"1. Technological Feasibility Study:
GalNav performed a technological feasibility study to assess the benefits and cost of system configuration options
• Central system- relies on infrastructure of “star” fiber optic P2P connection with analog RF over fiber transmission
• Distributed system – relies on System on Module (SoM) or System on Chip (SoC) integrated in Wi-Fi or DAS (Distributed Antenna System) access points.
• Baseband Transmission system – optimized for 3GPP eCPRI or other baseband DAS systems
Technological Feasibility Study Conclusions:
• Central system - enables the fastest and safest route to meet and satisfy most customers’ requirements (at least for pilot systems).
• Baseband Transmission system fitted to eCPRI standard will enable easier penetration into the market through partners such as Hawaii, Corning, and others deploying such systems, requiring appropriate collaboration.
• Distributed system will allow lower cost in terms of equipment and deployment cost.
2. Market Assessment:
GalNav studied the market by collecting information: free and purchased by intelligence company research and gathered potential clients in focus groups to establish the best market strategy. Based on the study, we learned whether to keep the fiber optic version, switch to the wireless version or keep both for different target markets.
Market Assessment Conclusions : from the user point of view GalNav can offer three types of systems:
• Seamless system - \"\"zero changes or intervention in customer equipment or customer behavior” is indeed a significant advantage for most customers, especially for underground streets, train stations etc. position accuracy 2m
• Application system – the user has to install special application to the smartphone. Many customers wants their own client application for several reasons
a. Ability to study and monitor customer behavior mainly in shopping centers.
b. To enable a variable map, a feature not supported by the standard navigation applications, the feature is mainly required for exhibition areas in which the pavilion map changes weekly, and stores where the products are located on moved across shelves.
• Controlled system – GalNav has full control of the user\'s navigational equipment. The demand comes from automated warehouses and indoor robotic vehicle. In Controlled system we will take advantage of the knowledge accumulated in software receiver GalNav development. position accuracy better than 1m
3. Selection of Pilot Sites for Phase 2:
GalNav have negotiated a number of pilot sites around the world. Currently, we have achieved one that is in the process of signing a contract, and second that will probably begin in Q2 2019
Selection of Pilot Sites Conclusions: Pilot sites for:
• Seamless systems - the first site is in the Old City of Jerusalem (contract in signing process),
• Application systems sites
• Controlled systems sites
\"

Final results

The user\'s transition to outdoor navigation using navigation satellites has created a fundamental change in the way we move from place to place, almost eliminating the use of paper maps, and saving time.
Moving these capabilities into buildings will dramatically change the way we navigate underground streets, driveways, the way we shop, maintain and manage smart buildings, hospitals, and manage automated warehouses.
The use of GNSS will allow a huge user audience without any investment beyond the rapid adaptation of users and hence the cheap and rapid penetration of technology
