Summary

Seventh Sense™ is a novel and disruptive technology developed by Uniraja OÜ, located in Tallinn Estonia, to improve the quality of life and independent mobility to the 40 million blind people in the World. Our vision is to be the market leader in the Mobility Assistive Technologies industry for the visually impaired people. We have created an uncontested blue ocean market in a market space that has had little effective inventions to improve mobility since James Biggs created the white cane in 1921. We have invented an affordable device that does remote sense of touch, empowering visually impaired people to safely navigate (indoors and outdoors) and to interact with the surrounding environment.

The objectives of the overall innovation project are: 1) to perform a comprehensive feasibility study focusing on the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of the technological and market possibilities of the innovation; 2) to develop the novel product; 3) to bring innovation to the level of industrial readiness and 4) to introduce the innovation to the market. The expected outcome of the project is Seventh Sense™ – enables the visually impaired to feel everything around them for improved quality of life and mobility.

Work performed

During the Feasibility Study, the following tasks were performed:

Task 1 – Operational and Technical Feasibility
Task 2 – In-depth Market Assessment and Commercial Feasibility
Task 3 – Financial Feasibility
Task 4 – Intellectual Property Rights and legal advice
Task 5 – Partners Search
Task 6 – Risk Assessment
Task 7 – Work Plan
Task 8 – Elaborated Business Plan

Seventh Sense passed each Feasibility category, making this novel project and business possible, feasible, viable, profitable and sustainable. A Business Plan was created which will be followed by company management to grow the business.

Final results

The novelty of Seventh Senseâ„¢ can be demonstrated from two viewpoints. From a technical perspective, Seventh Senseâ„¢ integrates advanced multi-disciplinary ICT technologies and human studies (human psychology and nervous system) to create a unique user experience. From a market perspective, Seventh Senseâ„¢ is a disruptive, effective, easy to learn and affordable solution compared to the traditional ways of mobility used for many years by the visually impaired to travel and relate to their dynamic environment.
