Summary

80 years of combined experience and 21 years of specific research allowed the team of DIDSON Company to develop and patent an active reducing sound system against noise pollution due to transport. This disruptive innovation is a revolutionary transducer for reflecting external noise waves. When this system is activated, it reflects the noise. As a result, there is a reduction of 25 to 30 dB of noise level, even when the windows are open. Our product is aimed at protecting coastal city centers, airports, ring roads, railway lines and places where heavy traffic disturbs life. The DIDSON’s system is a simple solution that allows residents to ventilate their building naturally while respecting the environment, saving energy and being in perfect harmony with the EU thermal regulations. The centerpiece of our system, the patented active electroacoustic transducer is designed to be integrated as part of the closure elements: shutters, curtains and ventilation. A European market survey has been carry out to know the needs of our future clients and to verify that the market is ready to integrate this new innovation. We solicited the help of the EU-H2020 program - Phase 1, in order to realize a marketing and technological feasibility study.

Work performed

Thanks to the financing of the European Union, we took a technological turn in the conception of the transducers. Technically speaking, the results obtained during this first phase approve the feasibility of the active noise-cancellation from a technological and an economical point of view. The tests led proved the performance of the transducer and permitted to confirm the viability of the architecture. The researches during those 6 months enabled us to get our technology closer to the market. Actually, we found technical solutions to improve the performance of the prototype and to develop its technological maturity. Furthermore, the modifications brought are more practicable from an industrial point of view. Thus, the feasibility study granted is accomplished and the technologic locks are unbolted.
With the help the phase 1 of SME Instrument, we have now a better visibility on the project DIDSON’s future. Indeed, with the funds raised, we hired a marketing office in order to identify companies which are interested in our technology. The interviews led with the potential customers enable us to have a better understanding of their needs and to precise the marketing segmentation. Now, we know which segments of the final users would be interested by the active anti-noise system.
Today, we have the proof that we have a totally innovative product which brings a solution to an important need and that we can now enter into the development phase.

Final results

Thanks to the detailed analysis led during the Phase 1 on the competition, we can underline important factors differentiation for our innovation. Furthermore, we can affirm that only the DIDSON’s disruptive technology is able to treat noise pollution. Indeed, as of today’s date, the active noise-cancellation solutions commercialized are limited to specific and localized noise sources.
The issue of our societies is to develop urban centers and transport infrastructures required to support the economic growth while protecting inhabitants without confining them.
DIDSON aspires to contribute to the improvment of a great number of our fellow citizens and to generate an economic activity based on a technological advance, expected by national and european authorities.
