Summary

Disruptive Technologies (DT) is poised to revolutionize the “Internet of Things” (IoT) by delivering an unprecedented level of connectivity and insight into the physical world. IoT is the next frontier and DT has developed a unique sensor system platform to capitalize on this opportunity. The Phase 1 Sense Inform Act Notify (SIAN) project will enable DT to assess the technical feasibility and commercial potential of its disruptive IoT platform technology. A successful Phase 1 project will allow the company to continue its route to commercialization based on the outcomes of the feasibility study.

Work performed

During this Phase 1 project, the DT team assessed the technical feasibility and commercial potential of our disruptive technology and we benefited from business development coaching. Our Phase 1 project activities included: (1) conducting a survey to assess the Voice of the Customer within our target markets and sectors, confirming interest in our technology and validating our approach to the market; (2) signing customer agreements confirming our current development trajectory is adequate to satisfy demand; (3) engaging the relevant manufacturing, supply chain and software development partners for our planned Phase 2 project; (4) confirming we have the freedom to operate; and (5) developing and refining our business plan, which forms the basis for a Phase 2 application. We are confident in our technology and believe significant demand exists within our chosen markets.

Final results

The biggest challenge with traditional sensors is the cost of acquiring, installing and maintaining the sensors due to current limitations in size, robustness, the need for wired power or short battery life. DT has developed a technology that mitigates these challenges and enables the IoT revolution — the world’s smallest, most reliable, longest lasting, easiest to use, and lowest cost sensor platform ever developed.

Europe is in an excellent position to become a global leader in IoT. Analogous to the advent of the Internet itself, the IoT enables a myriad of applications and business opportunities ranging from the micro to the macro. The sensor market segment alone grows more than 43% annually and the broader IoT landscape will contribute more than €9 trillion over the next 20 years. DT’s unique sensor system platform will capitalize on this opportunity, accelerate the up-take of IoT, and unleash the potential of the technology for the benefit of the European Union’s citizens and businesses.
