Summary
Households account for 30% of the overall electricity consumption in the EU - equivalent to 785.2TWh annually. Within the EU, around 30% of household electricity consumption is wasted energy because of the low efficiency of standard appliances. Poor energy consumption practices among homeowners significantly contribute to this wasted energy since people are generally not aware of the impact of individual appliances or how this accumulates over time. Ecoisme have developed EcoFeel, a monitoring tool that detects home appliances and measures active and reactive power and current by connecting to your breaker. Its application makes, analyses and provides all the energy information in a simple explanation. Ecoisme uses machine learning algorithms, analyses user behavior and measures active and reactive power. Ecoisme is easy to integrate with other IoT solutions. Ecoisme turns your smart solutions into a full energy efficiency home.
Work performed
Ecoisme undertook a full analysis of the both the technical and business potential of the EcoFeel device and app. Throughout the project, Ecoisme has expanded their knowledge on the capabilities of the device, the features of the app, the home energy management system market, the target customers and established a sound business model and commercialisation strategy for the anticipated market launch. Beta testing was completed and the feedback received has been crucial in shaping the remaining activities to be performed. Ecoisme also secured 3 distributors for participation in large scale end user trials.
Final results
The expected outcome of the project is to optimise the hardware technology and assure cross-platform compatibility and localisation for the app. The project will also be used to gain a widespread market validation with end users in three countries. The EcoFeel system is expected to have a significant impact on the environment and contribute to major reductions in household energy consumption.
