Summary

\"When humans are performing visual inspection tasks, the error rates are high:
• The error rate in assembly checks is 19%.
• The error rate in case of soldering errors is 20%.
• The error rate when detecting impurities is 69%.
In order to greatly limit the risk and effect of human error, companies are documenting their process and using checklists of their tasks. Current systems are too general and too expensive. Classic machine Vision is too “simple.” In the end, companies still rely on humans for quality checks. The advantages of AI software tools are that they allow maintenance staff to predict future failures from past experiences and data patterns. AI technology has the potential to improve safety and efficiency in commercial and industrial inspections. AI tools not only collect information, but they can focus on areas that need attention. AI computer vision is able to make assessments from images and videos that are captured by cameras. Many advanced systems are able to signal the faulty locations on a structure in addition to providing digital reports.

The EC promotes industry 4.0 initiatives to boost the European economy: Advanced technologies are currently fueling the \"\"fourth industrial revolution\"\", with the potential of transforming EU industries and creating enormous growth of the European economy. MoonVision can be applied in many existing industries to bring them into to the 4.0 age.

The overall objective is for the MoonVision platform to become the standard for applied object recognition for business customers. Each project improves the skills and thus the adaptability to the respective industry. Some
industries can be served holistically by integrators, as is currently substantiated in the hospitality industry with companies such as hotel data.
This SME Instrument project is of strategic important as it helped us zero in on the verticals we should go for in Phase 1 and will give us a chance to get the funding to make those platform adjustments in Phase 2.\"

Work performed

The work performed includes
a) chosen target verticals for Dishtracker, Retail Pro, item.control and SurfaceScan
b) established a Technology Roadmap and that we need to focus on image acquisition, UI, training data management, cloud resource use and deployment targets
c) completed business model assessment for the 4 products with specific pricing models
d) identified major risks
e) refined patent strategy
f) elaborated further on our business plan.

During the Feasibility Study period, we talked to a larger customer base to draft the study.
We have disseminated on our website that it was EC funding that enabled us to complete this study.

Final results
