Summary

Water scarcity is a major global issue. The efforts to try to meet the growing water needs are generating multiple impacts associated to water production, transportation and packaging.
Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs) reproduce the water cycle by condensing ambient humidity. AWGs are widely used to supply water to remote facilities where drinking water is not available. However, their penetration into commercial and residential premises with lack of access to drinking water or with insufficient water quality is still low.
GENAQ, a Spanish company focused on the development and production of advanced AWGs has created GENAQ STRATUS to supply the commercial and residential markets with disruptive, efficient and functional AWGs able to produce top quality drinking water with the lowest energy consumption in the market.
GENAQ STRATUS has reached TRL7 through the successful implementation of larger models (NIMBUS and CUMULUS) for remote locations and emergency response purposes and the development and testing of GENAQ STRATUS models with 50 and 200 l capacity. The last development steps will be achieved through GENAQ project by further developing, validating and bringing into the market our GENAQ STRATUS series

Work performed

1. We have further assessed GENAQ STRATUS development stage (TRL7), defined the required technology developments and prepared a Work Plan to take GENAQ STRATUS to TRL9. Additionally, we identified GENAQ project technical risks and proposed mitigation and contingency measures.
2. We have conducted an analysis on the AWGs market, completed an assessment on GENAQ IP strategy and confirmed our Freedom-To-Operate in GENAQ target markets. Additionally, we have updated our dissemination plan and assessed the regulatory requirements with an impact on the project.
3. We have further defined our commercialisation strategy, identified our funding needs and forecasted GENAQ STRATUS financial projections up to 2025. We have also identified GENAQ project commercial, administrative and financial risks.

Final results

GENAQ STRATUS will provide end users in commercial and residential premises with lack of access to sufficient quality water with top quality drinking water through an affordable, efficient, functional and environmentally friendly alternative to bottled water and other drinking water sources (filtration systems, water tanks). By implementing GENAQ STRATUS our end users will eliminate their use of plastic bottles, resulting in savings of 20 g of plastic per litre of water.
