Summary

Problems regarding urban transportation, such as traffic overload, air pollution and lack of parking spaces affect the quality of life and health of the entire urban society.
A shift towards multimodal transport combining walking, bikes, public transport and shared transportation is vital. In Europe there is country dependency and different treatment for transport modes as well as varying tax regulations regarding business travel. No uniform platform exists allowing employers, employees and residents to plan, book and travel between different transport modes and countries.
The overall goal is to provide users with an optimal travel experience through a single MaaS platform and mobile app to plan, book, travel and pay for services from a single payment channel to travel across Europe for business (employers and employees) or private purposes (residents, visitors).

Work performed

Technical feasibility – we have developed a roadmap for the next two years of development to bring the platform to TRL8 comprising of three technical and one commercial work package, defined effort needed to complete each task and analysed the costs associated; analysed risks and concluded a mitigation plan.

We have freedom to operate (FtO) in Europe and in the US as confirmed by our FtO analysis. We have defined in a strategy to protect our IPR based on intellectual asset mapping. We analysed needed certifications in Europe and planned the next steps to achieve those certifications.

We carried out detailed market research analysing the MAAS market trends, willingness to pay trends, market drivers, competitors, and target country specifics (mobility providers and tax regulations).

Business plan – we defined target countries and commercial strategy and roadmap (users & USPs, updated canvas), marketing, communications and sales strategy, commercial launch and internationalization plan as well as roadmap to TRL9. We conducted a deep analysis into obstacles/drives and risks to commercialization. Futher we defined our partners and stakeholders and carried out a financial projection for the next 6 years.

Final results

We have achieved a thorough analysis of the tax regulation and general MAAS readiness for 9 countries taking into account the following criteria: tax regulation regarding business travel and commute, availability of mobility providers; availability of public transport; traffic congestion; availability of parking; public transport; share of company cars.
