Summary

The ABLE Project leaded by Emprending Business SL, was approved within the call for SME Instrument H2020, Topic SMEInst-09-2016-2017: Stimulating the innovation potential of SMEs for a low carbon and efficient energy system, Call 2016-05-03.
Emprending has developed an innovative, specific and unique solution in this category, on a global scale and protected by patents. Emprending. This is technology system to extend the lifespan of a wind turbine blade, through elements that allow the recovery of the mechanical condition of the structural element of a blade damaged by fatigue at the end of its planned 20 year-lifespan.

The objectives that were set in the project were the following
1. Homologation with manufacturers, market research of manufacturers and technologies and design of the technological roadmap and IP strategy to extend the system to other wind turbine blade models.
2. Definition of the business model and strategy of alliances.
3. Development of a marketing and business strategy for the internationalization of the project.
4. Definition of the Business Plan.

The Project has been developed as planned, in terms of deadlines, budgets, actions, and results obtained. The project has enabled, through activity No.1, a better understanding of the market, the design of the technological road map and an estimation of its approximate budget, which will be the basis of the Proposal for Phase II. The strategy for the protection of intellectual property, has also been reviewed. Within Activities No. 2 and 3, the business model has been designed employing the Canvas methodology, the policy of alliances has also been designed, as well as the commercial and marketing strategy and the expansion of the business at an international level. Activity No. 4 has resulted in a complete Business Plan.
The approval of the Well Project in Phase 1 of the SME Instrument program has been a catalyst for the company in the obtaining of new financing.

Concerning to ABLE solution a first prototype has been developed, and test benches and calculation models have been carried out by engineering specialist firms. It´s expected to have a final version of the prototype in September 2017, to obtain a new report of engineering calculation models, and to carry out a new benches test, which will be definitively validated by Dewi / UL.

Both solutions are protected by patent worldwide. The use of the ABLE system will generate significant environmental impacts.
