 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'Behavioral programming (BP), which is a direct outcome of the current LIBPR ERC grant, is a novel, language-independent development paradigm, centered around natural and incremental specification of behavior. It is currently implemented in multiple programming languages. BP allows building software applications from independent scenarios, each corresponding to an individual requirement. The paradigm is supported by tools for fully executing the specification, and for debugging, execution planning, learning-based adaptivity, model-checking for detection of conflicting and incomplete requirements, and automatic repair of problems and conflicts. BP has the potential of allowing complex systems to be developed by large groups of individuals, and subsequently to be maintained by different individuals, substantially reducing the need to understand the intricacies of already-existing code when implementing new requirements. This accelerates development and reduces costs. In the proposed POC project we plan to (a) make all the source code freely available to the public (b) develop rich example applications that help demonstrate and prove the benefits of BP concepts in a broad spectrum of real-world applications (c) upgrade our tools via bug repair and functional enhancements for broad usability of the proof-of-concept. These actions will allow potential end-users to directly benefit from our research deliverables, and enable commercial companies, professional communities and individuals, to use the research results as a basis for developing commercial and free products.'
