 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'The aim of this research is to detect and study selected documents in Old Abruzzese, a southern Italian dialect spoken in a central region of Italy. Through the study of spontaneous writings in substandard and regional Italian and Abruzzese, I wish to reconstruct the linguistic profile of this highly endangered variety and to provide the linguistic community with a corpus of novel data which will enrich the European linguistic descriptive scenario. The writings that I consider risk being destroyed by the recent cataloguing procedures that are being implemented at present at several archives/libraries. It is therefore urgent to collect and document this material which can serve as the basis for both theoretical and typological linguistic analyses as well as for socio-cultural studies on this part of Europe.'
