 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'The target of this project is to study the production of clean syngas/liquid fuels through the thermochemical gasification coupled with the Fischer-Tropsch route of high alkali, chlorine and sulphur agricultural residues, which have been pre-treated and formed a new coal-like solid bio-fuel that can be gasified without ash-related problems. Also scientific excellence, transfer of knowledge and collaboration between the former Marie Curie host and the reintegrating institute by providing assistance to a young promising researcher in the field of bioenergy, and assisting him in persuing an independent research carrier in one of the most dynamic research areas for the future. The project aims to produce clean energy in the form of syngas/liquid fuels through the thermochemical gasification coupled with a Fischer-Tropsch reactor of a new coal-like solid bio-fuel derived from the pre-treatment of high-alkali and chlorine agricultural residues to eliminate the ash-related problems. The studied fuels will include agricultural residues available for exploitation at European level such as wheat straw, olive residue, corn stover and DDGS. The project includes both experimental activities and modelling calculations. The experimental work will include, pre-treatment of agricultural residues to produce the new coal-like solid bio-fuel, thermochemical gasification tests coupled with an F-T reactor to produce liquid fuels , determination of the effect of the pre-treatments into the the gas quality, the tar production and quality, the thermochemical conversion efficiency, the F-T reaction and the used catalysts and the properties of the F-T liquid fuels and chemicals and upgrading of the derived F-T liquids to diesel and gasoline. Economical analysis will be performed to evaluate the impact of the pre-treatments into the competitiveness/viability of clean fuels production. Modeling of the F-T process will be performed using the ASPEN plus software.'
