 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'The analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures against extreme loads, such as earthquakes, blasts, and impacts, has been an objective of many researchers and designers. As a result of recently elevated terror threat levels in the world, demand for the impact resistant design of buildings has increased. Numerous studies have been conducted to-date for understanding and developing methodologies predicting the behaviour of RC structures under impact loads. The proposed project aims to develop a nonlinear finite element analysis program for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures subjected to impact loads. The program to be developed will employ high-level state-of-the-art reinforced concrete modeling techniques. A well-instrumented experimental study will be conducted for corroboration, involving reinforced concrete slabs subjected to impact loads at the centre. Results of the experimental program will also be used for the critical evaluation of the current impact resistant design practices.'
