 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'There is no doubt that that the Institute is the largest and most important RTD centre of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in any S&T field. In the 1980s the Institute invested about four million Euros in the development of its dynamic testing laboratories as well as for the education of young scientists in well known centers in Japan, USA and several European universities. Therefore, it is most worthwhile investing in its tradition and know-how and helping upgrade its infrastructure and human potential, to recover and surpass its capacity, level of activity and excellence and international standing. In order to enhance the participation of IZIIS in international cooperation and in the integrated European Research Area, it is necessary to take action now in the direction of reinforcement of the Institute’s RTD capacities. This will have a strong impact on further improvement of the quality of research in the area of seismic risk reduction and protection of structures from other environmental dynamic or technological hazards. It will save human lives and property in future earthquakes and reduce economic losses, producing in the long-term positive economic and social effects. On the other hand, creation of extraordinary working and research conditions, access to hi-tech infrastructures will keep our people at Institute and even engaging young and ambitious researchers from the wider region. Reinforced and upgraded RTD capacities will improve much more our competitiveness in respect to the European and World research centers and also to joint participation with other laboratories from the EU member states in research programmes financed by EU within the frames of FP7 and other calls from EC.'
