 Project objective

Drowning causes the loss of 37,000 lives and 236,000 non-fatal injuries per year in swimming pools within the EU. Safety conditions for swimming pools in the EU are still generally poor and are mainly dependent on local authorities. Furthermore, there are multiple divergent regulations and a distinct lack of coordination between the different international players. However, as a result of recent legal developments in the EU, Tour Operators, hotels and travel agents are now legally obligated to prove their absolute commitment towards public safety in their swimming pool infrastructure.

SafeWaterpark is a vast and outstanding set of service modules for hotels and water parks, developed in collaboration with TÜV SÜD, to perform full assessments and efficiently certify complete public pool facilities. Compiling over 600 different complex requirements, our test procedures are unique, containing a global set of standards.

To improve our offer even further and raise public awareness, we are developing a crowd-based safety analysis app and portal for Tour Operators and the general public, called Pool-Reporter. Users will be able to raise alerts, send reviews and complete surveys concerning potential safety issues. Combined with an advanced system of automated sensors to collect safety data on real-time, we will be able to perform dynamic data monitoring through proprietary Machine Learning algorithms to trigger preventive and pro-active safety inspections.

SafeWaterpark has already verified 10,000 installations across the EU in just over 4 years. With our unique technological developments, we will expand our services worldwide and multiply by 10 the number of inspections, allowing us to improve safety conditions for the general public and potentially reduce number of accidents by over 90% at monitored locations. This will help Tour Operators reduce legal exposure and raise our turnover to €20M by 2025. In the process, we will create over 50 direct and 200 indirect jobs.
