 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'Science in the City is a Science and Arts Festival that strives to show the public how research is a creative and exciting activity. The streets and buildings of Malta capital city, Valletta will be filled with the wonders of science through art, cultural and entertaining activities. Using this approach we aim to build on last year's success by reaching all of the Maltese Islands' population through a comprehensive awareness campaign and attracting 18,000 people to Researchers' Night.

Our aim is to create a unique spectacle that will celebrate the Better living theme we have chosen for this festival. It links research with everyday life sending the message that research contributes to an improved lifestyle. The broad theme includes researchers from all scientific fields: from life science to engineering, physics to our environment.

Researchers have already collaborated with artists to create captivating ideas on how to engage the public with their work through art and performance. This attractive platform will present researchers at every activity to discuss scientific research directly to the public. Their presence will help dispel misconceptions about scientists and their careers, while encouraging science career uptake.

Our target audience is the general Maltese public, but we will target specific groups such as; families with children; adolescents; youths, adults and pensioners. Each age group will find activities that interest them, a kids’ area will be set up, science music concerts, plays for adults and teenagers, interactive experiments, science cafes and much more. Three EU corners, including one specifically for children, will disseminate information about EU activities and research, coupled with career advice experiments and edutainment to make this a truly memorable Researchers' Night in Malta.'
