 Project objective

Generic photonic design software modules aims to improve current nanophotonic design technologies. To achieve this we will provide photonicGeneric photonic design software modules aims to improve current nanophotonic design technologies. To achieve this we will provide photonic design engineers with fast, high-performing photonic building blocks. The ambition of this phase is to complete the business plan for 5 different generic, highly optimized building blocks. A first step towards reducing development time and effort has been taken by composing circuit designs via standard building blocks implementing basic functionalities, which can be employed to compose more complex circuit-level functionalities for many different applications. However, the design time for each building block is still long, as they require to be modelled, simulated and laid out for every material platform, process and foundry available. The use of software modules will strongly impact the design procedure for experienced designers and newcomers. The main points of impact are by reducing the time, potentially up to 80%, and thus freeing design and layout resources, thus more work can be completed by the same number of design engineers, boosting efficiency and yield. More specifically for VLC, as its business model is based on providing services, reducing time by 80% will allow to increase economic benefit by a similar amount, and even more, introduce a product rather than a service on its business offering, which can be potentially scalable, friendlier towards external investment and ultimately more profitable than selling services. The complexity of generating and validating standard building blocks quickly scales up, and automation needs to be used to cover all possible blocks. This is considered key for maturing the technology and speeding product development in a market that is expected to grow at compound annual growth rates (CAGR) above 25% in the period 2015-2022, from $228M to $1.338M.

Are you the coordinator (or a participant) of this project? Plaese send me more information about the "GOODMOD" project.

For instance: the website url (it has not provided by EU-opendata yet), the logo, a more detailed description of the project (in plain text as a rtf file or a word file), some pictures (as picture files, not embedded into any word file), twitter account, linkedin page, etc.

Send me an  email (fabio@fabiodisconzi.com) and I put them in your project's page as son as possible.

Thanks. And then put a link of this page into your project's website.
