 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'EURADIA, the Alliance for European Diabetes Research, encompasses in one entity the major European diabetes stakeholder organisations, ensuring contact and credibility with scientists in all fields of diabetes research. EURADIA has a unique and high profile at European level and is the primary contact for the European Commission in diabetes research issues. EURADIA has been instrumental in highlighting the need for increased and better coordinated funding for diabetes research. A Project Steering Committee of high-profile EURADIA members (from patient organisations, academic science and industry) will provide scientific guidance for the DIAMAP project. The solid scientific backing for DIAMAP, patient input, and established tools such as a website and database, and links with the Innovative Medicines Initiative, provide credibility for DIAMAP to survey the European diabetes research landscape and to invite input from experts (through expert scientific fora in different diabetes research areas) to produce ‘Road Maps’ for diabetes research. Road Maps will be compiled into a single report to provide the European Commission, funding agencies and researchers with a strategy to maximize the strengths and opportunities for future diabetes research in Europe. Stakeholders will participate through fora for horizontal issues: legal, ethical, health professional. The final diabetes Road Maps will be disseminated widely in the form of an expert report. The mission of DIAMAP is to undertake a wide survey of the current European diabetes research landscape, from which expert opinion can identify gaps and highlight strengths, to guide a Road Map strategy for diabetes research in Europe.'
