 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'Collisions of highly energetic hadrons play a crucial role throughout much of nuclear and particle physics. They offer insights into the inner structure of nucleons and nuclei, allow studies and tests of the strong interactions and their fundamental theory, Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD), and also serve as invaluable tools in the search for physics beyond our "Standard Model" of the forces in nature. We propose to perform theoretical and phenomenological studies of hard hadronic collisions. Specifically, we plan to investigate the resummation of large logarithmic perturbative corrections to hard-scattering cross sections in QCD. Our studies would have wide-ranging applications for comparison to data from many present and future experiments in high-energy nuclear and particle physics, ranging from fixed-target experiments to the highest-energy colliders. We plan to improve previous resummation formalisms, develop new techniques and applications, and overall improve the theoretical description of the strong interactions at high-energy.'
