Usually, the work area of CNC desktop milling machines is as wide as an A4 paper sheet, so designers, carpenters and small wood manufacturers makers, and DIY lovers can’t realize medium or big size objects, like a chair or a pair of skis. On the other hand, traditional and professional CNC machines allow manufacturing wide surfaces, but they have a high footprint, are bulky, heavy and very expensive. Springa has designed Goliath PRO, the first portable and autonomous robotic tool which removes the stationary boundaries of CNC machines, allowing users to produce human-scale projects wherever they want. Goliath PRO has the dimensions and price of a desktop machine, but endless possibilities and work area comparable to a professional one. The user can design or download designs from online project libraries, upload them to Goliath and supervise the work progress from a computer, smartphone or tablet, manufacturing a variety of materials (wood, plastics, soft metals). The robot weights 25kg and comes with a custom developed and patent-pending sensor system which triangulates the position of the robot ensuring high accuracy. Goliath PRO addresses the professional B2B market (furniture manufacturers, Construction industry, Stage and scenography producers Trade stand producers, education and training centers, designers). Our business model is based on developing and selling a range of autonomous robotic tools and accessories for digital fabrication. We had feedback from big players in the power tools/CNC milling field that our technology could impact also the industrial market, and we’re determinate in developing Goliath PRO for professional woodworking. During the Phase 1 we will interact with prospect customers to define the final design of Goliath PRO, and perform market analysis for consolidating the pricing strategy, the distribution channels, and putting in place the value chain.
